Mama Roses Apple Dumplings

Mama rose's apple dumplings. My grandmother learned this recipe from her grandmother when canned biscuit dough was first invented. And our family has never stopped making it!

Ingredients
20 oz pie crust, ready-made
6 granny smith apples cored, peeled, and sliced
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
½ cup unsalted butter, cubed and chilled

Syrup:
1 cup granulated sugar
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup hot water
¼ cup unsalted butter

To serve:
1 scoop vanilla ice cream per serving
2 tbsp syrup per serving

0:09 Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and grease a baking dish.
0:17 Dust the working area with flour and place the pie crust.
0:21 Roll the dough into a ⅛-inch thick rectangle then cut into 5-inch squares.

0:41 Sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon of sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.

1:28 In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all the ingredients for the syrup. Simmer for 5 minutes or just until the sugar has completely dissolved, then pour the syrup over the dumplings.
1:56 Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
